Ghostbusters In Concert Indianapolis Concert reviews
An Evening with David Sedaris was a bust
I have enjoyed Ghostbusters In Concert's "musings" for a long time and was anticipating a fun evening of entertainment. However, I am not a member of PETA, and even though there's nothing wrong with it, I am far from a prude. The long rambling story involving his childhood mistreatment of animals, specifically a group of baby sea turtles, and the library bathroom encounter with two men that left him considering ways to exploit the power he now possessed by the information he had gained about them, was NOT what I expected and was NOT funny. I did not enjoy it. There were some amusing moments when Sedaris was reading from his journals, but the evening was a real disappointment. I got the point of the piece at the end, but it didn't require that storyline to illustrate it. At the end, he asked for the houselights to be brought up so he could take questions from the audience and completely "dissed" the first audience member who requested that he do "Billie Holiday." It felt like a diva moment to me, and after the way the evening had turned out to be, I was ready to go home.
